McCann ready for start: After scoring a David Beckham style free-kick for the U21's on Monday night, Ryan McCann could be ready for his first team start after impressing gaffer Tom Hendrie. The on loan Ranger, has been at Love Street for two weeks, and is looking ready for a part of the first team action.
Former Hearts keeper on trial: Former Hearts keeper Scott Strang has begun a weeks trial with a view of move if he impresses. The Renfrew Juniors keeper has been seen as a possible backup for the injured John Hillcoat.11/3/02
Wee Tam snapped up: It didn't take Tom Brown long to find a new club after being released by Saints last week. Today he was snapped up by 2nd division table topper's Alloa till the end of the season. Good luck to wee tam and cheers for the hard effort shown at Love Street.10/3/02
Get it right up ye McCall: The good old days were back as Saints beat title chasers Airdrie 2-1 @ Love Street. A 3000 crowd saw us record our first home win since the defeat of Partick Thistle back at the start of last December. Two cracking goals from frontmen Brian McGinty, and Mark Boom Boom Yardley secured three valuable points which will go a long way to helping our end of season stature. It was also a great day to wipe the smile off the wee neddy face of Ian McCall.10/3/02
Ludo breaks fingers: Ludo Roy broke his fingers in a training ground accident with St Johnstone. The player will still stay with the Perthshire club though.
Loan Ranger: St Mirren completed the loan signing of Rangers youngster Ryan McCann. The 19 year old has signed on loan till the end of the season.
Saints crash:Tonight St.Mirren were defeated aay from home 1-4 to the hands of Ayr Utd. Brian McGinty scored our only goal.26/2/02
Hillcoat replaces Ludo:Former Hamilton Accies Goalkeeper John Hillcoat has joined Saints till the end of the season after being released from third division Dumbarton. Hillcoat replaces the departed Ludo Roy who joined St Johnstone on loan till the end of season. The new keeper will make his debut tonight against Ayr at Somerset.26/2/02
Ludo off to Perth:Ludo Roy has joined SPL side St Johnstone on loan for the remainder of the season. The buddies 1st choice keeper's move comes as a shock to everyone because he is our first team goalie, and only looked liked leaving the club to go elsewhere for a permanent move only. This is another part of the boards cost cutting exercise, which is looking like now that we may not see our best performer play for us again 25/2/02
Baltacha returns:Big Serg returned to Paisley after a 2 week trial at English Premiership side Southampton. The player featured in a reserve match against Arsenal where they were soundly beaten. Despite Gordon Strachan saying that he thought he done well, he will not be following up his interest as he does not think he is any greater than the young players he has for the position he holds. Ipswich town though have interest in the player though no initial approach has been made.25/2/02
Lee Curran on loan:Saints have brung in Dundee Utd's 19 year old midfielder Lee Curran in on loan for a month. The player was a regular in the clubs U21's and featured in the 1st team a couple of times.25/2/02
Bruno leaves:Tam Broon sadly fell victim of the clear out of players last Monday. Tam had an injury prone time in his five years at Love Street though was a firm fans favourite mainly for his passion and aggression. The player has nearly been out for a year after picking up an injury in a SPL game last season against Rangers. I would like to wish Tom Brown all the best and am sure he will find a new club very soon.25/2/02
Three top stars to leave: Saints out with the old and in with the new attitude looks to have continued. Not only did we find out that only three or four of the ten out of contracted players at the end of the season would be kept on, three contracted players could be leaving before the season ends.Ludo Roy, Ian Ross, and Serg Baltacha look all to be on their way out. Ludo linked with Hibs last year have been speculated to be following up interest again on our star keeper.Ludo has said he would be definitely be interested in any move. Ian Ross has been attracting English 1st division side Millwall. They are looking for a left sided midfielder, and have had a scout out to watch Rossco. The only player making progress with a move is Baltacha, who is on a weeks trial at Southampton. We will get money for Serg if the move materialises.7/2/02
We forget how to DEFEND again:Saints lost to lowly placed Arbroath 2-3 at Love Street. A loss of two goals in the first 7 minutes really did knock the confidence.3/2/02 match report
Part-nick Burns: Alex Burns left Love Street to sign for rivals Partick Thistle in a cut price nominal fee believed to be around 15k. A short stay for Toastie who only was at the club for less than 5 month. He had been from my point of view as one of very few star performers this year. I would like to wish Toastie good luck, but i ain't going to do that because Hendrie tried to persuade him to stay and he wanted to go because Thistle are sitting top of the league.Break a leg Toastie! 1/2/02
Up Next: Saints welcome the visit of Arbroath to Love Street on the 2nd of February. The last meeting of the two sides ended in a 2-0 win to Saints at Gayfield, where a rememberence of that day would be Jose Quitongo's climb up the back of pole supporting the goal net after his goal. An almost full squad so far available could make our chances pretty good for victory after the impressive win midweek against Airdrie. Chris Wreh's proposed move to Darlington is still under concern as no news has been available on the situation.25/1/02
Airdrie 2 v Saints 3: Without a doubt, our best performance of the season. A travelling support of around 500, which luckily included myself, witnessed an impressive victory against the title chasers. match report
Past weeks happenings: Since the last update of the site, alot of ongoings have been happening down Love Street way. A run of poor results, and departing players have had all of the fans worrying about the clubs future. Aswell as Chris Kerr and Stephen Donnachie already at Alloa, Mark Yardley left for Forfar 2 week ago, where he has netted 4 goals in 2 games. The biggest shock though was fans favourite Steven McGarry's loan move to Conference side Boston Utd, which could result in a permanent move. Though things look to be on the mend as on Tuesday, an impressive win over Airdrie away showed our true form.24/1/02
Back again!: After six weeks of internet problems, i am back again. Difficulty coecting to the web restricted me from updating the site, so hopefully i am back up and running.24/1/02
Promotion chase over: Partick 1 Saints 0 It bloody well happened again, play the better football and take feck all. Steven McGarry's penalty miss will be in our minds still come the last day of the season.click here for match report.15/12/01
Loan move 2 Forfar for Yards: Big Boom Boom moved to Forfar on a 2 month loan deal to get regular first team football and a chance to recapture his goalscoring form.
Nightmare on Love Street: Since last updating the site, things down Love Street look like getting from bad to worse. An embarassing 5-1 defeat to the hands of Falkirk made us look like to the others of the league like a walkover, though if anyone at the game witnessed our early pressure, they would be wondering what the hell we have to do to start winning games. Goals aren't easy to come by at the moment, and once again it was a defender who scored our only goal at the weekend.Paul McKnight looke sharp when he came on and so did the unexpected Chris Wreh, though, these players did not get enough of a run out to make some impact.
3rd Round Cup draw:Yesterday Saints were pulled out the Scottish Cup hat to be drawn with Clyde at Broadwood, which will be played in January. The last time we played Clyde in this competition was in 1997 at Broadwood where we lost 4-1 in a season when we almost got promoted.
Server Problems: The site has not been updated as regular recently, as i was experiencing server problems with connecting to the web to update.
Ur Wreh no fit enough:According to a couple of todays newspaper's, Tom Hendrie has said that the big Liberian Wreh has been basically a lazy s**t, and that is why he has not being getting a first team game yet. It was thought at first that TH and the board were the bad guys in the situation, though now the fans knowing that Wreh hasnae been training mid-week because he has been telling the physio that he is picking up a new injury after each U21 game in the last couple of week. He is also reportedly a heavy pint drinker. Looks like the only black and white he cares aout is a six pack of guinness from Safeway.
U21's lose to Tic: The U21's were defeated on Monday night by a well organised young Celtic side 5-2. Saints goals coming from David Lowing, and a Paul McKnight rocket from about 30 yards, described by some supporters as one of the best goals they have seen at Love Street. . Jose seals victory: St.Mirren completed a hatrick of away wins as they defeated Arbroath with goals from the wee guy and Walker. Click here for match report.
Gillies on way back Ricky Gillies looks as if he could be well on his way back to first team football again this week. Mystery surrounded the players dissapearance from first team action, though today revealed in a local newspaper, Ricky explained that he had been dropped from the last three games because he didn't have the right kind of attitude, and that it could have effected the rest of the teams performance. He has revealed that his form has changed because he has found it hard to adapt to the toughness of the 1st division, lets just hope Ricky is back in the team soon and hits the kind of form that he is most recognised for.
Should Wreh Start? Many fans feel it is time that Christopher Wreh should be introduced to a first team place. With lack of goals from our current strikers, we feel it is time the player, who is by far the biggest name in the first division should start playing before our season goes into complete tatters. Click on the appropriate vote on the poll at the bottom of this page.
Its No F-Ayr:Saints fell to a first home defeat against Ayr 0-1.A totally dominated game by Saints .ended in misery 3 minutes from time when Pat McGinlay scored.Click here for match report.
Two away wins in a row: What a magnificent feeling it is to see another three points on the board, and our second away victory in a row. I unfortunately couldn't make the game as i was in London over the weekend, though a supposed dominated 2nd half earned a deserved win. Well done Trigger for scoring what could be an all important goal which could change our fortune's in our mission for top spot. Good news was that Airdrie and that wee gobsh*te of a manager McCall lost to Clyde.
Kerr sensationally loaned out!:Chris Kerr today was loaned out to 2nd division side Alloa, the former club of Tom Hendrie. He will team up with other Saint Stephen Donnachie. It is surprising news, as Kerr was seen as a key player in our bid to climb back to the SPL, has there been a fall out between player and gaffer?? me thinks so.
Livvy Fitz up Tony :Former Saints manager and player Tony Fitzpatrick yesterday was signed up by Livingston as their new Director of Youth development. Fitzy's involvement with his Total Soccer project was not gone unoticed by Dom Keane who had been trying to secure him for a couple of month now. Best wishes go to Fitz in his new position.
